These people were my 2xgt grandmother's parents. She was Anne Fraser, and at the time of her marriage to Alexander McKenzie (from Cape Breton) in 25 July 1825, she was from McLennans Mountain. Ann/Anne was born abt 1802 supposedly in Gairloch, Scotland, and had come to NS in the early 1800's. Her siblings were allegedly Archie, Christie, Flora, Isabella, Johanna 'Hanna' and Simon. Her husband Alexander McKenzie was b abt 1798 and also from Gairloch. He apparently went to NS in abt 1818 aboard the Perserverance, which sailed from Stornaway, Isle of Lewis. Anne and Alexander had the following children William Alisdair b 16 Apr 1826 Cape Breton Duncan b 20 Oct 1827 Cape Breton - he didn't go to NZ, died in Mar 1869 in Provincetown, Mass - he married a Margaret McDonald b 1834 Provincetown? James Rory b 17 Aug 1829 Cape Breton Christina b 1831 Cape Breton Jessie b 1831 Cape Breton (twins? or a wrong date?) Johanna Barbara b 20 Aug 1842 Ballentry Murdoch b abt 1844 Ballentry? There is perhaps another son Donald, who didn't go to NZ
The family went to NZ aboard Breadalbane 24 Dec 1857, William took his wife Arabella Sutherland, who he had married at Cape Breton in 1857; and James Rory his wife Jessie 'Og' McDonald who he had married in Maine in 1855.
I don't know where Ballentry is, and I don't know which province Cape Breton is in. Grateful for any assistance at all. Regards Jan Moon

There is an article that appeared in The Eastern Chronicle (17 July 1952) about those Frasers known as the Banns. I'll try to find the time to transcribe it.
