I love your site. I am originally from Westville in my younger years but now from Calgary, Alberta. I still love down home as everyone is so friendly and the country is so beautiful and still have family and friends living their and they are the lucky people. Never left home. I was wondering if any body knows of a ROSS family from around the Riverton area. The parents died when the children were young. Names: IRENE RUTH ROSS B August 5, 1919 [quote SADIE ADALINE ROSS B Nov.30, 1920 HESTER ROSS B Jan. 12, 1922 If any one can help me please email and it would be greatlly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Planning a visit to Nova Scotia to visit cemeteries and properties associated with McMillans and McKenzies @ Rogers Hill, West Branch River John and Toney River. One John McMillan born in Scotland circa 1770 married one Ann Richards born in Wales circa 1787. Children include Letitia Gammon of Cape John, Duncan McMillan of Toney River, William McMillan of Toney River, James McMillan of Cape John, John McMillan of West Branch River John = siblings of my ancestor Daniel McMillan of West Branch River John who married Catherine "Cassie" McKenzie, presumed to be daughter of Roderick McKenzie. I have found location of properties of siblings John, William, Duncan, Letitia and Daniel. Am looking for clarification of which Roderick McKenzie was the father of Cassie. Am looking for burial site of parents John McMillan and Ann Richards which may be @ Rogers Hill. Am hoping to sprinkle my father's ashes on the graves of his ancestors in a symbolic tribute to him and to them. I can be reached at Wit0nashingle@AOL.com. Thank you.

I have been researching the Kellocks distant history a bit. My Grandfather said we where Scottish, however i could not find the name in any Scottish books. I then narrowed it down to a Sept of the MacDonalds named the MacKellochs. Satisfied with that and thinking the (Mac) was dropped for Americanization i assumed, i left it alone. Then later i found the Kelloch name again with out the (Mac) however this time pre-dating the Scots as a Pictish name loosely translated meaning (Sacred lake) or (Church Lake). I assumed that the (Mac) was added as they became a Sept of the MacDonalds, and by birth rite the guardians of their Kirks (Churches). Some left for Ireland where the spelling changes again. Some of the questions for now are, when did the Kellocks, or MacKellochs come to Canada? What boat or boats? and timelines? The Kellock, Kelloch, Kellogg and several other variations are indeed supposed to come from one anyway. Our family has spelled it Kellock... What timeline did the (Mac) get added? and when was it dropped? Or did some just never even get the (Mac) added? or refused?

The Kellock history i can find so far goes back far enough to be rooted to the Picts. However this long time line reveals barely any history, stories or records of deeds. Even their history as a Sept of the MacDonalds seems to vanish into the MacDonald story. I am trying to fill in some of these huge blank pages in time. Its not like they vanished, we are hear today, unless we just skipped through time in a machine!lol
